Install with Wabbajack

Before you begin

Prepare Steam and Skyrim

1. In the Steam properties for the game, turn off Steam Cloud and set updates to “Only update this game when I launch it”.
2. Launch Skyrim through Steam once, wait for the title screen, accept and finish all Creation Club downloads, then exit the game.
3. A clean game has no old mod-manager files, injected DLLs, ENB/ReShade, or manually added mods in the game directory. If any remain, uninstall the game through Steam.
4. Confirm the exact Skyrim Special Edition installation directory, for example steamapps/common/Skyrim Special Edition. Remove remaining files only inside that confirmed game directory; do not delete saves or Steam library directories.
5. Then reinstall it through Steam and repeat the one-time first launch to the title screen and finish the Creation Club downloads.

Download and open Wabbajack

Download Wabbajack

Put Wabbajack in a separate writable folder, for example C:\Wabbajack. The folder is not Program Files, Desktop, or Downloads: choose a separate location on a drive.

Open the app, allow its normal first-run setup, then choose Krosis from its list catalogue. Do not look for a separate list file: choose it inside Wabbajack.

Choose folders

1. Choose a new or empty installation folder, for example D:\Krosis, and a different new or empty downloads folder, for example D:\Krosis Downloads.
2. Both folders must be new or empty and separate from the Steam game folder and the Wabbajack app.
3. The playable Krosis list belongs on an NVMe SSD. Archives may live on another drive, but a slower drive will lengthen verification and updates.
4. Use the system requirements for free-space planning instead of estimating from currently occupied disk space.

Start installation

1. Before starting, sign in to Nexus inside Wabbajack.
2. Nexus Premium is optional: without it, you manually confirm downloads, while the installation itself remains automated.
3. Start the installation in Wabbajack and follow its prompts. Do not close Wabbajack; do not move or delete folders while it is working.

Verify the result and launch Krosis

Wait for Wabbajack to report that installation completed successfully. Launch Krosis only through the list-provided launcher or Mod Organizer 2, not through Skyrim's regular launcher.

Then open the Getting Started guide and wait for the first launch to finish before changing settings or starting a game.

If Wabbajack reports an error

If it reports an error, keep the installation and download folders and the log; do not delete files blindly. First, read the displayed error, confirm the prerequisites and free space, then retry once. If it fails again, retain the log.
