System requirements
Use the table as a starting point when preparing a PC for Krosis. It describes expected performance tiers but does not replace checking the specific system.
Performance tiers
VRAM is the video-memory capacity available to the GPU for textures and other graphics data.

Storage
According to the Krosis 2.1.1 manifest, downloaded archives require approximately 234 GB, the installed list requires approximately 379 GB, and their combined size is approximately 613 GB. Values are rounded using decimal units: 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. Windows may display the same byte counts as lower numbers in binary units.
650 GB is the minimum free-space planning target, not a guarantee of update headroom. 700–750 GB is recommended to reduce the risk of running out of space during installation and later maintenance. Future Krosis versions may require more space.
An NVMe SSD is a fast solid-state drive where the playable list should be installed. Archives can be kept on another drive, but a slow drive will lengthen verification and updates.
Required environment
- 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- A legal Steam copy of Skyrim Special Edition version 1.6.1170.
- An NVMe SSD for the playable list.
- Current GPU drivers.
- A system-managed page file on an SSD.
- A stable internet connection for the large archive download.
The page file is disk space Windows uses when physical RAM is under pressure. Leave it under system management and place it on an SSD.
What affects performance
Results depend on resolution, GPU performance, available VRAM, and graphical settings. Cities, dense forests, and effects-heavy scenes can fall below the stated FPS ranges.
The 4K target assumes upscaling where needed. Upscaling reduces rendering load, so the resulting frame rate depends on the selected mode and the particular scene.
Before installation
- Confirm that the game version is 1.6.1170.
- Check that at least 650 GB of free space is available; prepare 700–750 GB when possible.
- Confirm that the playable list is placed on an NVMe SSD.
- Check that GPU drivers are current.
- Confirm that the system-managed page file is enabled on an SSD.
- Check that the internet connection is stable.
- Decide whether the archives are retained or moved to another drive.
